As promised...

Okay, this will be my last post concerning Alice. I won't subject you all to any more after this but I did say that I'd post some pics of Alice's grave at the Sleepy Hollow pet cemetery.

The first is the entrance to the cemetery. It's actually pretty nice... for California. Alice is under the Palo Verde that's directly behind the sign, almost in the center of the picture.

Next is a poem that someone put up next to the entrance a long time ago (some of the dates go back to the mid 70's).

Goodby Old Friend
You'll be in my heart forever.

They will not go quietly
the pets who shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a scratching at the door
or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be.
And sometimes, coming home at night
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts belongs to them
and always will.

Yeah, I know it's pretty cheesey stuff but I think it pretty much sums up the feeling.

Lastly is the grave itself. Lori did a really nice job on the rock that we used as a marker.

And, no, the camera isn't at an angle... it's a little bit of a hillside under that Palo Verde.

Thanks for looking. I'll try to post something more lighthearted in a few days.

Comments are back on.

Glad to see it hasn't been walked all over or littered with beer cans and junk. I just keep thinking of the car that's buried right underneath her...I keep hearing that loud CLANK the shovel was making...seeing the bumper...pieces of tail lights.

Oh well. At least there WAS a pet cemetary. It's actually pretty well kept...and it looked like a pretty day out there.

The marker is very pretty. Beautiful work, Lor.

Oh, thanks! Figured it was the least I could do.
